Shirley Manson’s Mixtape Memoir:
Born to Do This
We know her best as the front woman for Garbage, but Shirley Manson's music career began a decade prior, while she was still in her teens. For ten years Shirley played and sang in a band called Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie, which evolved into Angelfish, with Shirley moving to the front as lead singer. Today, her resume now also includes film actress and podcast host. To hear Shirley tell it, she was born to have the career in music she has. Truer words were never spoken.
Raised in Edinburgh Scotland in what she calls a beautiful, but conservative family, music surrounded Shirley throughout her childhood. Gifted with a musical ear, she played several instruments as a child, and in her teens, joined high school bands and theatre. It was during those years that the first of a series of kismet moments occurred, eventually leading to now nearly three decades with Garbage. Just days before releasing their seventh studio album, No Gods No Masters, listen in as we create Shirley Manson's Mixtape Memoir.
